About arthur

  1. 20+ years of execution and managing teams in a growing number of e-commerce verticals (on both the brand and agency side) including food, pet, apparel & jewelry, subscriptions, supplements, fashion, electronics, home goods, and accessories.

  2. I founded, operated, and then sold a growth-focused paid social agency during the most dynamic and challenging e-commerce landscape in the last 10 years. Within that short time-frame, my team of 15 helped brands navigate the complexities of growth through Meta data limitations, COVID, hyper-growth, and the following contraction.

  3. Scaled over 30 brands, busting through growth plateaus with $150MM /yr organizations to growing startups from $500k to $8MM /yr.

  4. I‘m only making time for a few brands now and I’m fairly selective in what kinds of brands I help. You’ve got to have a great product/market fit, and opportunities in the areas I excel in the most. I love only the kinds of projects that I can impact the most.

how do I work?

The goals of working with a Fractional CMO are the same as a in-house CMO. You are hiring an expert to help you define strategies, manage teams, monitor performance, and build frameworks for future growth.

To that end, all of my deliverables and methods of communication lead to the same results.

While I focus predominantly on building high level strategy and guide tactical execution teams, I have no issue executing if the situation calls for it. Just like an in-house CMO should.

Communication is key and I am reachable by cellphone, Slack, email, carrier pigeon, etc.

    2. Defines realistic, clear growth goals

    3. Tracks all marketing initiatives with KPI’s that make sense to founders

    4. Manages all existing acquisition/retention teams

    5. Actions on a comprehensive strategy for new customer acquisition & increasing existing LTV

    8. Brings forth a trusted network of specialists

  • Generally, a Fractional CMO will do whatever their full-time CMO counterparts do. They will not do the execution in marketing channels and instead will manage against overall strategic initiatives. They will step in on tactical strategy within delivery teams when necessary.

You are hiring a CMO for a fraction of the cost of a full-time hire but their hours are limited.

  • Brands with stalled growth

Whatever the reason for missing growth targets, an experienced executive can help push existing teams or implement new execution layers to fuel growth based on custom playbooks.

    Brands fighting priorities

A Fractional CMO with decades worth of wins/losses can quickly prioritize existing milestones and define steps necessary to guide internal/external resources to a collaborative goal.

    Bandwidth capped lean teams

Fresh brands paving their way need the support of a seasoned pro that has already laid successful foundations for profitable customer acquisition using precise data-guided ideation & execution

Brands with an unclear market position

Founders with exceptional product knowledge can utilize their skillset to continue expanding on product lines while the Fractional CMO focuses on delivering revenue

  • Here’s the typical cop-out answer: it all depends. Do you need my team to execute? Are you looking for just consulting? Will you need me to train your in-house team? Manage agencies? You should be happy paying invoices so we will land on something that makes sense for both of us.

Generally, you’ll start to see results within the first month with near-immediate changes to how teams are managed, revised approaches to acquisition and retention, and renewed focus on all of the levers we pull to improve revenue & profit in the business.

Discovery itself takes around 2 weeks, depending on complexity, and is the first deliverable. This deliverable on its own sheds new light on the business and is a fantastic initial step for us both.
